Kiddush Cup

Before eating any meal on Shabbat or major Jewish holidays, a prayer is said by the man of the house over wine called Kiddush. Kiddush is a small prayer thanking G-d for this day of rest. Rather than using an ordinary cup, people choose to put the wine in a Kiddush cup which is generally a silver goblet but with today’s Judaica artists, there are many of wonderful styles and colors. The reason behind using a Kiddush cup as opposed to a regular cup is because on Shabbat, all actions done should be completed in an elevated manner.
